After 12 months of existence and many, many (way too many!) feedback emails coming from you guys and girls, we have decided to make a significant, and much asked for improvement to Sputtr.com. We are enabling all users (yes you!) to add completely new search engines to the Sputtr homepage, which will then be publicly available for everyone else.
So if you’ve been dying to search a specific site or search engine through Sputtr.com, but we haven’t listed it so far, now is the time to head over to Sputtr.com and submit your site! Not only will you be able to add your new search button straight to your own customized homepage, but every other Sputtr user will also be able to see your newly added search source and will be able to try it out for him or herself.
All you have to know to submit a search engine, is the name of the site (e.g. Google Images), the category it falls into (e.g. is it web search or image search or blog search, etc..?), the search code of the search results, and have an appropriate gif/jpeg image/logo for your button. Once you know all of these you are good to go.
So if you have a new search engine in mind, head on over to Sputtr.com and enjoy your new-found control by adding it to your customized search page!
Please also note that so far this feature has only been added to the dot-com version, and none of the international language (de, fr, es ..) versions. Please don’t submit any search engines that are non-English, since these belong on the international sites and not the dot-com version.
The Sputtr Team
PS: As always, feedback is appreciated - so if you find any errors or run into problems, give us a shout here by leaving a comment.

It’s been a while - but we’ve finally developed a mobile version of Sputtr for the increasing number of users who use mobile devices to access and search the net. Sputtr. Mobile Search is by no means as complex as its full version brother, but it is a formidable mobile search solution. Go check it out at http://mobile.sputtr.com and start searching Google, Yahoo, Flickr, YouTube, Wapedia (mobile Wiki), eBay and Amazon. We hope you all will like this new feature - as always, feedback is welcome. Enjoy!
Cheers,
The Sputtr Team

Well well well.. since the start of the contest we’ve received numerous entries to the competition, and lots of reviews that were really excellent. This made the task of picking just one single winner extremely difficult - but we had no choice so we picked our favorite review from the bunch:
I present to you the winner of $200:

Congrats to Andrew, the author of that blog, for winning our competition!
Some of the close runner ups (which are truly excellent reviews aswell) were:
Jim Stroud’s Review
iWizard’s Review
Cheers,

A couple of weeks ago we started the “Blog About Us And Win $200” contest here at Sputtr.com. Since then we’ve received many excellent reviews of our site! One of these (the best!) will win the cash prize of $200 on the 31st of August - but the deadline is not until the 30th of August, so all of you still have more than 2 weeks to take part and grab that CASH! So get going!
You can find the original blog post about the contest with instructions, criteria and deadlines here.
Good Luck!

First of all, sorry for the long silence but the weather here has been gorgeous as of late - hence less time to spend on the net!
We’ve got 8 new additions to the Sputtr homepage - so without further ado, here they are:
For all Language Versions:
Veoh.com (Video Search)
Clusty.com (Alternative Search Engine)
Shoutwire.com (Bookmarking Site)
Techcrunch.com (How did we survive without it??)
For the US Version ONLY:
Walmart.com (Shopping Site)
USASearch.gov (Government search)
For the German speaking Versions (DE, AT, CH) ONLY:
Spiegel.com (News Site)
Web.de (Alternative Search Engine)
In other developments, the Italian version will be upgraded soon to the new layout, and there will also hopefully be Australian, Brazilian, Dutch and Greek versions pretty soon.
Stay tuned. And as usual, if you want your search engine to appear on Sputtr.com then send your suggestions to contact@sputtr.com
Finally, do make sure you blog about us to win $200! The contest is still on until the 30th of August.
Cheers,
The Sputtr Team

Today we’ve added three new search options to the Sputtr homepage: Mahalo, Worldcat and LibraryThings.
Mahalo.com
A recent start-up by Jason Calacanis that claims to be the world’s first human-powered search engine. Worth using if you are looking to get higher quality results on certain topics, but since they are currently in alpha stage and barely 2 months old, the search results they provide are still limited.
Worldcat.org
We felt we should add some search functionality for our library friends. Arguably one of the most popular of all Library Searches is Worldcat.org – so here it is – enjoy!
LibraryThing.com
This is also a popular tool with library searchers – so we’ve added it aswell!
So if you like any of these, go and get started adding them to your personal search page here (click customize page).
In the coming days we’ll be adding more engines – today’s fresh additions are not all that there will be this week! If you know any sites that you feel simply MUST be included in next week’s update, then please..
TELL US HERE
Cheers,
The Sputtr Team
